2. Purpose of This Policy
Playflick may use editorial judgement, platform signals, content quality review, audience interest, seasonal themes, human curation, and automated assistance to organise and highlight content for users.
This policy explains:
- How featured content and staff picks may be selected
- What editorial curation does and does not mean
- How curated collections and homepage placements may work
- How paid, sponsored, or advertising placements should be separated or labelled
- Why content may be removed from featured areas
- How users may report misleading or inappropriate curation
3. Feature Availability
Editorial rows, featured content placements, staff picks, curated collections, homepage banners, genre spotlights, creator spotlights, seasonal lists, festival showcases, editorial badges, and related curation features may not be available to every user, country, account type, content type, device, browser, or app version.
Playflick may add, remove, restrict, redesign, suspend, or discontinue editorial curation and featured content features at any time.
4. What Editorial Curation May Include
Editorial curation may include Playflick-selected or Playflick-organised surfaces.
Curated surfaces may include:
- Featured rows
- Staff picks
- Homepage highlights
- Genre collections
- Seasonal collections
- Festival or awards collections
- Creator spotlights
- New release highlights
- Hidden gem lists
- Editorial playlists or watchlists
5. Editorial Selection Factors
Playflick may consider many factors when selecting or organising editorial content.
Factors may include:
- Content quality
- Originality
- Audience interest
- Relevance to a theme or collection
- Release timing
- Metadata accuracy
- Content safety and policy compliance
- Rights and availability
- Accessibility features
- Editorial judgement
6. Human and Automated Assistance
Editorial curation may involve human reviewers, automated systems, ranking systems, metadata systems, quality signals, user behaviour signals, moderation signals, or a combination of these.
Automated systems may help identify candidates, but Playflick may still apply editorial, policy, legal, safety, or business judgement before featuring content.
7. Featured Content Is Not an Endorsement
Being featured, curated, selected, highlighted, or placed in a staff pick does not mean that Playflick guarantees, endorses, sponsors, approves, or takes responsibility for all claims, views, products, services, links, or activities associated with the content or creator.
Featured content must still follow Playflick policies and may be removed or restricted if issues arise.
8. No Guaranteed Placement
Creators and users are not guaranteed editorial placement, homepage placement, staff pick status, featured status, ranking position, recommendation placement, or continued visibility.
Playflick may decide whether, where, when, and how content appears in editorial surfaces.
9. Sponsored and Paid Placements
Paid advertising, sponsored placements, brand deals, affiliate placements, or paid partnerships should be disclosed or labelled where required by law or Playflick policy.
Paid or sponsored placements may be separate from editorial selections.
Users must not misrepresent paid promotion as independent editorial selection.
10. Staff Picks
Staff picks may reflect Playflick editorial judgement, reviewer interest, theme relevance, content quality, cultural relevance, originality, audience value, or other platform considerations.
Staff pick status may be temporary, rotating, region-specific, theme-specific, or limited to certain surfaces.
Playflick may remove staff pick status at any time.
11. Curated Collections
Curated collections may group content by theme, genre, season, event, mood, culture, creator type, festival connection, awards status, language, region, or other editorial criteria.
Inclusion in a collection does not guarantee that every viewer will see the content or that the content will remain in the collection permanently.
12. Creator Spotlights
Playflick may feature creators, studios, contributors, communities, channels, or public figures in spotlight placements where features are available.
Creator spotlight selection may consider:
- Content quality
- Audience engagement
- Originality
- Creator reliability
- Policy compliance
- Availability of rights
- Accessibility and metadata quality
- Theme or campaign relevance
13. Regional and Personalised Curation
Editorial surfaces may vary by country, language, region, age settings, account type, viewing history, content availability, device, and user preferences.
Users may see different featured content from other users because of licensing, localisation, personalisation, safety settings, or editorial design.
14. Content Availability and Curation
Featured or curated content may become unavailable, removed, region-blocked, expired, made private, age-restricted, payment-restricted, or rights-restricted.
Playflick may remove or replace featured content where availability changes.
More information is available in our Content Availability, Removal & Expiry Notice Policy.
15. Metadata and Presentation
Editorial curation may rely on metadata, artwork, thumbnails, trailers, descriptions, captions, titles, credits, release dates, content warnings, and availability information.
Creators should keep metadata accurate and should not submit misleading metadata to obtain editorial placement.
16. Safety, Quality, and Policy Review
Playflick may review featured candidates for safety, quality, rights, metadata, accessibility, user experience, and policy compliance.
Content may be refused or removed from editorial placement if it involves:
- Policy violations
- Rights disputes
- Misleading metadata
- Unsafe content
- Low technical quality
- Fraud or manipulation signals
- Artificial engagement
- Availability or regional access problems
17. Manipulation of Editorial Placement
Users must not manipulate, pressure, bribe, deceive, or abuse Playflick systems or staff to obtain editorial placement.
Prohibited conduct may include:
- Fake engagement campaigns
- Bot-driven popularity

- Misleading critic quotes
- Fake metadata
- Harassing staff for placement
- Offering improper benefits for placement
- Using undisclosed paid promotion as editorial proof
18. Editorial Independence
Playflick may exercise editorial independence when selecting, arranging, removing, or labelling featured content.
Playflick is not required to explain every editorial decision, ranking choice, staff pick selection, collection change, or placement removal.
Playflick may consider legal, safety, policy, business, user experience, cultural, and editorial factors.
19. Conflicts of Interest
Playflick may adopt internal processes to manage conflicts of interest in editorial curation where appropriate.
Users must not create false claims that a placement was paid, corrupt, biased, sponsored, or officially endorsed without evidence.
Reports of undisclosed sponsorship or misleading placement may be reviewed where appropriate.
20. Removal from Featured Areas
Playflick may remove, demote, replace, or rotate content from featured areas at any time.
Reasons may include:
- Collection rotation
- Release schedule changes
- Rights or availability changes
- Policy concerns
- Metadata inaccuracies
- Safety concerns
- Fraud or artificial engagement
- Technical problems
- Editorial refresh or campaign changes
21. Child Safety
Editorial curation must not be used to exploit, sexualise, identify, harass, groom, or endanger children or young users.
Content involving children or young creators may be reviewed carefully before being featured.
Serious child-safety concerns may result in immediate account action and reporting where appropriate or required.
