2. Purpose of This Policy

Localisation, dubbing, and translation features help users discover and enjoy content in different languages, regions, cultures, and accessibility contexts. These features must be accurate, lawful, non-misleading, and respectful of rights and audience expectations.

This policy explains:

  • How translated titles and localised metadata may be submitted or displayed
  • How dubbing, voice tracks, and language versions may be handled
  • What rights may be required for translations and dubbed audio
  • How automatic translation and localisation errors may be treated
  • What misleading, abusive, or unauthorised localisation is prohibited
  • How localisation disputes may be reviewed

3. Feature Availability

Translation tools, localised metadata fields, dubbed audio tracks, language-version labels, regional artwork tools, localisation review, automatic translation, language preference features, and related tools may not be available to every user, creator, country, account type, content type, device, browser, or app version.

Playflick may add, remove, restrict, redesign, suspend, or discontinue localisation, dubbing, or translation features at any time.

4. Localised Metadata

Localised metadata may help users understand content in their preferred language or region.

Localised metadata may include:

  • Translated titles
  • Alternative regional titles
  • Translated descriptions
  • Translated episode titles
  • Translated cast or role labels where appropriate
  • Localised genres or tags
  • Localised content warnings
  • Regional release notes

5. Responsibility for Accuracy

Users who submit translations, localised metadata, dubbed audio, or language information are responsible for ensuring that the information is accurate, lawful, non-misleading, and submitted with appropriate authority or reasonable basis.

Users must not knowingly submit false translations, misleading language labels, unauthorised dubs, inaccurate regional versions, or harmful localisation text.

Playflick may not independently verify every localisation submission before it appears.

6. Translated Titles

Translated titles should accurately identify the content in the relevant language or region.

Users must not use translated title fields to:

  • Keyword spam
  • Impersonate another title
  • Mislead users about official status
  • Use unrelated franchise or celebrity names
  • Promote scams or external links
  • Harass, threaten, or target others
  • Hide restricted or unsafe content

7. Translated Descriptions

Translated descriptions, synopses, episode summaries, taglines, and metadata should accurately reflect the original content and should not introduce false or harmful claims.

Translations must not add:

  • False plot information
  • Fake availability claims
  • Scam links or phishing text
  • Hate, harassment, or threats
  • Private personal information
  • Sexualised minor content
  • Misleading advertising or promotional claims

8. Dubbing and Voice Tracks

Dubbed audio and alternate voice tracks may be available for some content.

Dubbing information may include:

  • Dub language
  • Voice cast
  • Dub studio where relevant
  • Audio format
  • Regional version
  • Accessibility audio where applicable
  • Rights or availability restrictions

Dubbed tracks must not be uploaded or distributed unless the uploader has the required rights, licences, releases, permissions, or lawful basis.

9. Dubbing Rights

Dubbing may involve rights in performances, translations, scripts, music, sound recordings, studio work, talent agreements, unions, moral rights, and distribution territories.

Users must not upload, monetise, or distribute dubbed audio without appropriate rights.

Playflick may remove or restrict dubbed audio if rights, licensing, privacy, publicity, contractual, or safety concerns apply.

10. Language Labels

Language labels should accurately describe the audio, subtitle, metadata, or localised version being offered.

Users must not mislabel languages to:

  • Mislead users
  • Capture unrelated traffic
  • Hide policy-violating content
  • Evade moderation
  • Bypass regional restrictions
  • Misrepresent dubbing availability
  • Manipulate search or recommendations

11. Regional Versions and Edits

Some content may have different regional versions, edited cuts, censored cuts, broadcast versions, director’s cuts, theatrical cuts, extended cuts, festival cuts, dubbed versions, or localised versions.

Users should label versions clearly where tools are available.

Users must not misrepresent an edited regional version as an original, complete, official, or uncensored version if doing so would mislead users.

12. Localised Artwork

Posters, thumbnails, banners, stills, and artwork may be localised for different languages or regions where features are available.

Localised artwork must comply with Playflick policies and rights requirements.

Users must not use localised artwork to:

  • Infringe copyright or trademark rights
  • Mislead users about the content
  • Impersonate another title or brand
  • Make false release or availability claims
  • Target children with unsafe content
  • Promote scams, phishing, or unsafe links

13. Automatic Translation

Playflick may provide automatic translation features where available.

Automatic translations may be incomplete, inaccurate, culturally inappropriate, misleading, delayed, or unsuitable for legal, medical, financial, safety, professional, or formal use.

Users and creators should review important translations carefully before relying on them.

14. Cultural Adaptation

Localisation may involve adapting language, idioms, jokes, references, titles, artwork, rating notes, or descriptions for a particular region or culture.

Cultural adaptation should not be used to mislead users, erase important context, add harmful stereotypes, create discriminatory messages, or falsely represent the original work.

15. Accessibility and Localisation

Localisation may support accessibility through audio description, translated captions, subtitles, sign-language-related materials where available, or descriptive metadata.

Accessibility localisation should be accurate, respectful, and not misleading.

More information is available in our Accessibility Policy and Captions, Subtitles & Audio Description Policy.

16. Spoilers in Localised Metadata

Translated titles, descriptions, episode summaries, thumbnails, and localised metadata may reveal spoilers.

Users should avoid unnecessarily revealing major spoilers in visible localised metadata, especially for recent releases, finales, character deaths, twist reveals, surprise cameos, or post-credit scenes.

More information is available in our Spoilers & Plot Discussion Policy.

17. Offensive or Harmful Translations

Users must not submit translations or localised content that harasses, threatens, abuses, discriminates, scams, impersonates, sexualises minors, or otherwise violates Playflick policies.

Prohibited localisation content may include:

  • Hate speech
  • Harassment
  • Threats
  • Scam or phishing text
  • Private personal information
  • Sexualised minor content
  • Misleading official claims
  • Content intended to evade moderation

18. Child Safety

Localisation, dubbing, translation, artwork, metadata, and language tools must not be used to exploit, sexualise, identify, harass, groom, or endanger children or young users.

Users must not use translated or dubbed content to direct children to unsafe contact, hide inappropriate content, misrepresent age suitability, or promote exploitative content involving minors.

Serious child-safety concerns may result in immediate account action and reporting where appropriate or required.

19. Localisation Disputes

Localisation disputes may arise between creators, translators, dubbing studios, voice actors, studios, distributors, rights holders, fans, communities, or users.

Playflick may review disputes where appropriate, but Playflick may not resolve every private contract, translation, dubbing, moral rights, union, credit, distribution, or cultural dispute.

Playflick may require official documents, rights information, written authorisations, translation source materials, court orders, or verified source materials before making certain changes.

20. Imported or Third-Party Localisation Data

Playflick may import, receive, display, or process localisation data from creators, studios, distributors, metadata providers, translators, public databases, rights holders, APIs, official sources, or other third parties where available.

Imported localisation data may be incomplete, outdated, inconsistent, duplicated, region-specific, or inaccurate.

Users may report localisation errors where correction tools are available.

21. Spam and Localisation Manipulation

Users must not misuse translation, localisation, language labels, dubbed tracks, or localised metadata to manipulate search, recommendations, rankings, analytics, promotional placement, or audience discovery.

Prohibited conduct may include:

  • Keyword stuffing translated fields
  • Fake language labels
  • Duplicate translation spam
  • Mislabelled dubbed tracks
  • Using unrelated title translations
  • Adding fake regional titles
  • Using localised metadata to evade restrictions
  • Using translation fields to hide scams or abuse

22. Reports and Support
