2. Purpose of This Policy
Critic reviews, editorial scores, publication quotes, and pull quotes may help users understand professional or editorial reactions to films, series, episodes, trailers, creators, and events. These references must be accurate, attributed, lawful, and not misleading.
This policy explains:

- What fake, altered, or misleading review claims are prohibited
- How review scores and publication names should be used
- How disputes about critic quotes or scores may be reviewed
- How Playflick may remove or restrict inaccurate review information
3. Feature Availability
Critic review tools, editorial score fields, pull quote fields, publication attribution, review excerpt tools, critic profile linking, score verification, editorial badge tools, dispute tools, and related features may not be available to every user, creator, country, account type, content type, device, or platform surface.
Playflick may add, remove, restrict, redesign, suspend, or discontinue critic review, editorial score, or pull quote features at any time.
4. Critic Reviews
Critic reviews may include professional, editorial, journalistic, or publication-based opinions about content.
Critic review information may include:
- Critic name
- Publication name
- Review title
- Review date
- Review score
- Short excerpt or pull quote
- Review URL where available
- Review language or region where relevant
5. Editorial Scores
Editorial scores may refer to ratings or scores given by critics, publications, review organisations, editorial teams, or authorised review sources.
Users must not fabricate, alter, exaggerate, or misrepresent editorial scores.
If a score scale is used, users should represent the scale accurately, such as whether a score is out of 5, 10, 100, stars, letter grades, or another system.
6. Pull Quotes and Review Snippets
Pull quotes and review snippets should accurately reflect the critic’s or publication’s review.
Users must not:
- Invent review quotes
- Change quote wording deceptively
- Use quotes out of context to reverse meaning
- Attribute a quote to the wrong critic or publication
- Use unrelated praise from another title
- Use fake ellipses to hide negative meaning
- Use critic names without appropriate basis
7. Attribution
Critic quotes, scores, and editorial review references should include clear attribution where available.
Attribution may include:
- Critic name
- Publication name
- Review date
- Review URL where appropriate
- Score scale where relevant
- Country or language where relevant
Users must not use attribution to falsely imply endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or official approval.
8. Publication Names and Logos
Publication names, mastheads, logos, review badges, and editorial marks must be used accurately and with appropriate rights or permission where required.
Users must not:
- Use fake publication names
- Use publication logos without permission where permission is required
- Use a publication name to imply endorsement beyond the review
- Impersonate a critic or publication
- Create fake review badges
- Use copied mastheads to mislead viewers
9. Review Aggregation References
Playflick may display or allow references to review aggregation data where features are available.
Users must not misrepresent aggregation scores, audience scores, critic scores, review counts, freshness labels, ranking positions, or similar metrics.
Review aggregation references may be subject to third-party rules, rights, licences, data access terms, or attribution requirements.
10. User Reviews vs Critic Reviews
User reviews and critic reviews should not be confused.
Users must not present ordinary audience reviews as professional critic reviews, paid testimonials as independent editorial reviews, or promotional blurbs as critic reviews where doing so would mislead users.
More information about user-submitted reviews is available in our Review, Rating & Feedback Policy.
11. Paid or Sponsored Reviews
Reviews, quotes, scores, or endorsements that are paid, sponsored, incentivised, affiliated, or otherwise commercially influenced may require disclosure.
Users must not misrepresent paid promotional reviews as independent editorial reviews.
More information is available in our Advertising Policy, Sponsored Content & Affiliate Disclosure Policy, and Consumer Protection & Fair Trading Policy.
12. Fake or Misleading Review Claims
Users must not use critic review information in a false, deceptive, or misleading way.
Misleading review claims may include:
- Fake critic quotes
- Fake publication reviews
- Fake score graphics
- Fake “five-star” claims
- Using review quotes from unrelated titles
- Misquoting negative reviews as positive
- Inventing “critically acclaimed” claims without basis
- Using fake critic identities or fake publications
13. Review Quotes in Posters, Trailers, and Metadata
Critic quotes and editorial scores may appear in posters, trailers, teasers, thumbnails, title metadata, descriptions, social previews, or promotional videos.
Users must ensure review claims in promotional materials are accurate, authorised where required, attributed appropriately, and not misleading.
Playflick may remove or restrict promotional materials containing false or misleading review claims.
14. Copyright and Quotation Rights
Review text, headlines, publication material, and critic writing may be protected by copyright or other legal rights.
Users are responsible for ensuring they have the rights, permission, licence, or lawful basis needed to use review excerpts, quotes, logos, graphics, or review materials.
Playflick may remove review materials that infringe copyright, trademark, publicity, contract, or other rights.
15. Defamation and Harmful Claims
Users must not use critic review tools to defame, harass, threaten, impersonate, or target critics, reviewers, publications, creators, cast, crew, or viewers.
Users must not fabricate harmful allegations and attribute them to critics or publications.
16. Disputes About Reviews or Scores
Disputes may arise between creators, critics, publications, studios, distributors, publicists, agencies, rights holders, or users about review quotes, scores, attribution, context, or permissions.
Playflick may review disputes where appropriate, but Playflick may not resolve every private contract, review embargo, editorial policy, publicity, quote-approval, publication, or attribution dispute.
Playflick may require official source links, publication confirmation, written authorisation, rights information, or legal documents before making certain changes.
17. Review Embargoes and Confidential Screenings
Users must not upload or publish review quotes, scores, critic reactions, private screening reactions, embargoed reviews, or confidential critic materials where doing so violates rights, confidentiality, contract, embargo rules, or applicable law.
Playflick may remove or restrict embargoed or confidential review materials where appropriate.
18. Child Safety
Review quotes, editorial scores, pull quotes, and critic metadata must not be used to exploit, sexualise, harass, identify, groom, or endanger children or young users.
Users must not fabricate or misuse review materials to promote exploitative content involving minors or to target child actors, young creators, or young reviewers for harassment.
