This Mentions, Tags & Hashtags Policy explains the rules for @mentions, creator tags, user tags, brand tags, content tags, hashtags, metadata tags, category labels, topic labels, cast or crew tags, film tags, community tags, search tags, trending tags, and related tagging features on Playflick.com, operated by Playflick™ Media .ltd.

Playflick may add, remove, restrict, redesign, suspend, or discontinue tagging features at any time.


4. General Tagging Rules

Tags, hashtags, and mentions must be accurate, relevant, lawful, and not misleading.

Users must not use tags, hashtags, or mentions to:

  • Harass or target users
  • Spam unrelated topics
  • Mislead users about content
  • Impersonate people, creators, brands, or Playflick
  • Manipulate search, rankings, recommendations, or trends
  • Promote scams, phishing, malware, or unsafe links
  • Sexualise or exploit children
  • Promote hate, violence, illegal activity, or abuse

5. @Mentions

@mentions may allow users to tag, notify, credit, reply to, or reference another account where features are available.

Users should use mentions only where relevant and respectful.

Mentions must not be used for:

  • Harassment
  • Spam notifications
  • Dogpiling or coordinated attacks
  • Impersonation
  • Scam promotion
  • Unwanted sexual contact
  • Targeting children
  • Evading blocks or restrictions

6. Harassment Through Mentions

Users must not use repeated mentions, mass mentions, targeted mentions, or coordinated mentions to harass, shame, intimidate, threaten, or pressure others.

Harassing mention behaviour may include:

  • Repeatedly tagging someone after they ask you to stop
  • Tagging a person into abusive conversations
  • Encouraging others to mention or attack someone
  • Using mentions to spread private information
  • Using mentions to mock, bully, or sexually harass someone
  • Using alternate accounts to continue unwanted mentions

7. Hashtags

Hashtags may be used to describe topics, genres, creators, films, series, events, communities, trends, or discussions.

Hashtags should be relevant to the content or discussion.

Users must not use hashtags to mislead viewers, hijack unrelated trends, promote scams, evade moderation, or artificially manipulate discovery.


8. Tag Spam

Tag spam is prohibited.

Tag spam may include:

  • Using large numbers of unrelated tags
  • Repeating the same tag excessively
  • Using trending tags unrelated to the content
  • Using celebrity or brand tags unrelated to the content
  • Using hidden or deceptive metadata tags
  • Adding tags mainly to manipulate search or recommendations
  • Using tags to redirect users to scams or unrelated content

9. Misleading Tags

Tags, hashtags, and metadata labels must not mislead users about what content contains.

Misleading tagging may include:

  • Tagging a film, actor, creator, or brand that is not involved
  • Using false genre tags
  • Using false age-rating or content-warning tags
  • Using fake “official” or “verified” tags
  • Using unrelated trending tags for traffic

10. Search and Recommendation Manipulation

Users must not use tags, hashtags, labels, mentions, or metadata to manipulate search, rankings, recommendations, trending lists, category pages, or discovery features.

Playflick may remove, reduce, ignore, demote, or correct tags that appear manipulative, irrelevant, spammy, deceptive, or policy-violating.


11. Creator, Cast, and Crew Tags

Playflick may allow users to tag creators, cast members, crew members, studios, production companies, distributors, or other people connected to content where features are available.

These tags should be accurate and based on genuine involvement.

Users must not falsely tag people as involved in content, especially where doing so could mislead viewers, harm reputation, imply endorsement, or create privacy and safety risks.


12. Film, Series, and Project Tags

Film, series, episode, trailer, documentary, short, or project tags should accurately reflect the content.

Users must not tag unrelated films, famous titles, franchises, or studios only to attract views, confuse users, or manipulate discovery.

Playflick may correct or remove inaccurate project tags where appropriate.


13. Brand and Business Tags

Brand, business, studio, advertiser, sponsor, or partner tags must not mislead users about affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, licensing, approval, or ownership.

Users must not:

  • Tag a brand to suggest false sponsorship
  • Tag a studio to imply false distribution rights
  • Tag a company to harass or pressure them
  • Use brand tags to promote counterfeit goods
  • Use business tags to impersonate another organisation
  • Use trademarked tags in a confusing or deceptive way

14. Sponsored or Affiliate Tags

If tags, mentions, or hashtags are used as part of sponsored content, paid promotion, affiliate promotion, gifted product promotion, or brand partnership, users should disclose the relationship where required.

15. Sensitive or Restricted Tags

Playflick may restrict, review, limit, or remove tags and hashtags connected to sensitive topics.

Sensitive or restricted tags may involve:

  • Child safety
  • Self-harm
  • Violence or tragedy
  • Hate or extremist content
  • Illegal activity
  • Adult or sexual content
  • Medical, legal, or financial claims
  • Scams or dangerous challenges

16. Child Safety and Tags

Tags, hashtags, and mentions must not be used to sexualise, exploit, target, identify, groom, harass, or endanger children.

Users must not use tags to:

  • Sexualise minors
  • Signal child exploitation content

Playflick may restrict tags, hashtags, coded terms, symbols, slogans, or phrases used to organise, promote, or hide harmful activity.


18. Tagging Private Information

Users must not use tags, mentions, or hashtags to reveal or spread private personal information.

Prohibited information may include:

  • Home addresses
  • Private phone numbers
  • Private email addresses
  • Identity documents
  • Financial information
  • Children’s private information
  • Private workplace or school details used to harass or endanger someone

19. Automated Tagging and Bulk Tags

Automated tagging, bulk tagging, or API-based tagging must follow Playflick policies, API & Developer Terms, and rate-limit rules where applicable.

Users and developers must not use automation to create spam tags, fake mentions, mass notifications, misleading metadata, or search manipulation.


20. Trending Tags

Playflick may display trending tags or topics where features are available.

Trending status is not guaranteed and may be delayed, corrected, removed, hidden, limited, or adjusted to address spam, abuse, manipulation, safety issues, legal concerns, or platform integrity.

Users must not attempt to manipulate trending tags using bots, fake accounts, coordinated spam, paid engagement, or misleading metadata.


21. Tag Removal, Correction, or Restriction

Playflick may remove, correct, hide, restrict, ignore, demote, or disable tags, hashtags, mentions, or labels where appropriate.

Reasons may include:

  • Misleading tags
  • Tag spam
  • Harassment or abuse
  • Child-safety concerns
  • Impersonation
  • Trademark or rights concerns
  • Scams, phishing, or malware
  • Search or recommendation manipulation
  • Legal or regulatory requirements

22. Reports About Tag or Mention Misuse

Users may report abusive mentions, spam tags, misleading hashtags, impersonation tags, unsafe tags, brand misuse, child-safety concerns, or search manipulation.

If your tag, hashtag, mention, metadata, content, account, or related feature was restricted and you believe Playflick made a mistake, you may request a review under our Appeals Policy where available.
