2. Purpose of This Policy
Awards, festival selections, nominations, laurels, critic recognition, and industry recognition can help users understand a title’s background, reputation, and public reception. These claims must be accurate, verifiable, lawful, and not misleading.
This policy explains:
- How awards, festival selections, and recognition claims may be submitted or displayed
- What evidence may be required for recognition claims
- How festival logos, laurels, and award badges should be used
- What fake, exaggerated, or misleading recognition claims are prohibited
- How disputes about awards or festivals may be reviewed
- How Playflick may remove or restrict inaccurate claims
3. Feature Availability
Award metadata tools, festival selection fields, nomination fields, win labels, laurel uploads, festival logo uploads, industry recognition badges, verification tools, dispute tools, and related features may not be available to every user, creator, country, account type, content type, device, or platform surface.
Playflick may add, remove, restrict, redesign, suspend, or discontinue awards, festival, and industry recognition features at any time.
4. Types of Recognition
Recognition information may include awards, festival selections, industry honours, official nominations, critic recognition, or screening achievements.
Recognition may include:
- Award wins
- Award nominations
- Festival selections
- Festival screenings
- Official competition entries
- Audience awards
- Jury awards
- Critic awards
- Industry shortlist placements
- Official recognition from recognised bodies
5. Responsibility for Accuracy
Users who submit award, festival, or recognition information are responsible for ensuring that the information is accurate, lawful, non-misleading, and supported by appropriate evidence.
Users must not knowingly submit false recognition claims, fake festival selections, fake nominations, fake awards, or misleading industry credentials.
Playflick may not independently verify every recognition claim before it appears.
6. Festival Selections
Festival selection claims should accurately describe the title’s relationship to the festival.
Users should not confuse:
- Official selection
- Competition selection
- Out-of-competition screening
- Market screening
- Private screening
- Online showcase listing
- Festival submission
- Festival acceptance
Submitting a film to a festival does not mean the film was selected, nominated, screened, or awarded.
7. Award Wins and Nominations
Award wins and nominations must be described accurately.
Users must not:
- Claim a win when the title was only nominated
- Claim a nomination when the title was only submitted
- Claim a festival award that does not exist
- Claim a category award without naming the category accurately
- Claim a person won an award if the award belonged to a title or team
- Claim official recognition from a body that did not grant it
8. Laurels, Badges, and Festival Logos
Laurels, award badges, festival logos, official seals, and recognition graphics must be used accurately and with appropriate permission.
Users must not:
- Create fake festival laurels
- Alter award badges to mislead users
- Use festival logos without permission where permission is required
- Use laurels from unrelated films or projects
- Use fake “winner” badges
- Use official logos to imply sponsorship or endorsement without permission
9. Evidence Playflick May Request
Playflick may request evidence before approving, verifying, restoring, or keeping an award, festival, or recognition claim.
Evidence may include:
- Official festival pages
- Official award pages
- Festival acceptance letters
- Award certificates
- Press releases
- Public announcements
- Programme listings
- Written confirmation from the awarding body
- Distributor, studio, or rights holder confirmation where relevant
10. Misleading Recognition Claims
Users must not use awards, festivals, or recognition claims in a misleading way.
Misleading recognition claims may include:
- Using “award-winning” without a real award
- Using “festival selected” after only submitting to a festival
- Using laurels from unrelated projects
- Using fake critic quotes
- Inventing award categories
- Overstating minor recognition as major industry approval
- Using recognition claims to mislead viewers, advertisers, sponsors, or buyers
11. Paid Awards and Promotional Recognition
Some recognitions, showcases, contests, certificates, or promotional placements may involve fees, paid submissions, paid promotions, or commercial arrangements.
Users must not misrepresent paid promotional recognition as independent editorial, jury-based, critic-based, or industry-awarded recognition where that would mislead users.
Paid promotional claims may need disclosure where required by law or Playflick policy.
12. Critic Quotes and Review Recognition
Critic quotes, pull quotes, review scores, critic awards, and press recognition must be accurate and not misleading.
Users must not:
- Fabricate critic quotes
- Misquote reviews
- Use quotes out of context deceptively
- Claim review scores that were not given
- Impersonate critics or publications
- Use fake publication logos
13. Industry Recognition and Professional Credentials
Users may reference industry recognition, professional memberships, official screenings, guild honours, academy recognition, or professional credentials where accurate and permitted.
Users must not falsely claim membership, accreditation, endorsement, certification, finalist status, shortlist status, or official recognition from industry bodies.
14. Recognition Metadata and Search Visibility
Award and festival metadata may affect search, recommendations, title pages, promotional placements, discovery, and user trust where features are available.
Users must not abuse recognition metadata to manipulate search, rankings, recommendations, analytics, advertising eligibility, or audience discovery.
15. Artwork, Posters, and Trailers Using Award Claims
Award and festival claims may appear in posters, thumbnails, trailers, teasers, descriptions, title metadata, social cards, and promotional videos.
Users must ensure that recognition claims in artwork and promotional videos are accurate, authorised, and not misleading.
Playflick may remove or restrict artwork or promotional videos containing false recognition claims.
16. Duplicate or Conflicting Recognition Claims
Duplicate or conflicting recognition claims may occur where multiple users submit different award or festival details for the same title.
Playflick may merge, correct, restrict, remove, or verify recognition claims where appropriate.
Playflick may prefer official sources, rights holder confirmation, festival confirmation, public award records, or reliable evidence when resolving conflicts.
17. Recognition Disputes
Recognition disputes may arise between creators, festivals, awarding bodies, studios, distributors, publicists, agencies, critics, rights holders, or contributors.
Playflick may review disputes where appropriate, but Playflick may not resolve every private contract, submission, festival rule, judging, category, publicity, sponsorship, or accreditation dispute.
Playflick may require official documents, written confirmations, court orders, or verified source materials before making certain changes.
18. Festivals, Award Bodies, and Impersonation
Users must not impersonate festivals, award bodies, industry organisations, critics, juries, sponsors, publications, or Playflick staff.
Users must not create fake festival pages, fake award accounts, fake laurels, fake judging panels, fake acceptance emails, or fake official communications.
19. Child Safety
Awards, festival claims, images, publicity materials, and recognition metadata must not be used to exploit, sexualise, identify, harass, groom, or endanger children or young users.
Users must not use award or festival claims to promote exploitative content involving minors, misrepresent child performer consent, or target children with unsafe promotional material.
Serious child-safety concerns may result in immediate account action and reporting where appropriate or required.
20. Fraud and Abuse
Users must not abuse award, festival, or recognition features.
Prohibited conduct may include:
- Submitting fake awards
- Uploading forged certificates
- Creating fake festival laurels
- Claiming false official selections
- Creating fake critic reviews
- Using recognition claims to defraud sponsors or buyers
- Using fake recognition to obtain monetisation, grants, or partnerships
- Using bots or fake accounts to manipulate audience awards where applicable
