2. Purpose of This Policy

Playflick may provide caption, subtitle, transcript, translation, and audio description features to improve accessibility, comprehension, searchability, and viewing experience where features are available.

This policy explains:

  • How captions, subtitles, and audio description may work
  • What creators are responsible for when uploading accessibility files
  • How automatic captions and translations may contain errors
  • How accessibility metadata and language labels should be used
  • How users may report caption, subtitle, or audio description issues
  • How Playflick may restrict, remove, or correct accessibility files

3. Feature Availability

Captions, subtitles, translated subtitles, automatic captions, transcripts, audio description, language selection, accessibility metadata, caption styling, and related features may not be available for every user, creator, device, browser, country, app version, content type, or video.

Playflick may add, remove, restrict, redesign, suspend, or discontinue caption, subtitle, transcript, translation, or audio description features at any time.

4. Captions

Captions may display spoken words and relevant audio information as text.

Captions may include:

  • Dialogue
  • Speaker identification
  • Important sound effects
  • Music descriptions
  • Non-speech audio cues
  • Timing aligned with video playback

Captions may be creator-provided, manually uploaded, automatically generated, or otherwise supported where features are available.

5. Subtitles

Subtitles may display spoken words, translations, or language support for viewers who want or need text while watching.

Subtitles may include:

  • Same-language subtitles
  • Translated subtitles
  • Foreign-language dialogue subtitles
  • Creator-uploaded subtitle files
  • Platform-generated subtitle options where available

6. Audio Description

Audio description may provide spoken narration describing important visual information for viewers who are blind, partially sighted, or who benefit from additional visual context.

Audio description may describe:

  • Scene changes
  • Actions
  • Facial expressions
  • On-screen text
  • Visual jokes or cues
  • Important objects or settings

Audio description availability may depend on creator uploads, rights, content type, platform support, and device compatibility.

7. Transcripts

Playflick may provide transcript features where available.

Transcripts may be generated from captions, subtitles, automatic speech recognition, creator-provided files, or other supported sources.

Transcripts may contain errors, timing issues, missing sections, or formatting problems.

8. Automatic Captions

Playflick may use automatic speech recognition or other automated tools to generate captions where available.

Automatic captions may be inaccurate because of:

  • Background noise
  • Multiple speakers
  • Accents or dialects
  • Low audio quality
  • Music or sound effects
  • Technical terms
  • Language switching
  • Speech recognition limitations

Automatic captions should not be treated as guaranteed accurate transcripts.

9. Automatic Translation

Playflick may offer automatic translation of captions, subtitles, transcripts, titles, descriptions, or related text where features are available.

Automatic translations may be incomplete, inaccurate, culturally inappropriate, misleading, or unsuitable for legal, medical, financial, safety, or professional use.

Users and creators should review important translations carefully.

10. Creator-Provided Caption and Subtitle Files

Creators may be able to upload caption, subtitle, transcript, or audio description files where features are available.

Creator-provided files should be:

  • Accurate
  • Timed correctly
  • Labelled with the correct language
  • Consistent with the video content
  • Free from spam or unrelated text
  • Compliant with Playflick policies
  • Uploaded only where the creator has the rights to use the content

11. Language Labels

Captions, subtitles, audio tracks, and audio description should use accurate language labels where available.

Misleading language labels may confuse viewers and may reduce accessibility.

Playflick may correct, hide, or remove language labels that are inaccurate, misleading, abusive, or policy-violating.

12. Timing and Synchronisation

Captions, subtitles, transcripts, and audio description may not always be perfectly timed.

Timing issues may happen because of:

  • Upload errors
  • Encoding changes
  • Video edits
  • Livestream delays
  • Automatic caption limitations
  • Device or browser playback issues
  • Technical processing errors

13. Livestream Captions

Livestream captions may be available for some livestreams where features and technology support them.

Livestream captions may have:

  • Delays
  • Missed words
  • Incorrect speaker labels
  • Automatic transcription errors
  • Language detection errors
  • Temporary outages

Livestream caption quality may depend on the stream audio, creator setup, platform tools, and technical conditions.

14. Accessibility Metadata

Playflick may support accessibility metadata where available.

Accessibility metadata may indicate:

  • Caption availability
  • Subtitle availability
  • Audio description availability
  • Transcript availability
  • Language options
  • Accessibility features provided by the creator

Creators should not misrepresent accessibility features that are not actually available.

15. Caption and Subtitle Misuse

Users must not misuse captions, subtitles, transcripts, audio descriptions, or accessibility metadata.

Prohibited misuse may include:

  • Adding spam or unrelated text
  • Adding scam links or phishing text
  • Adding harassment or hate speech
  • Adding misleading translations
  • Adding hidden advertising or keyword stuffing
  • Adding sexualised minor content
  • Using captions to evade moderation
  • Using accessibility files to impersonate another creator or brand

16. Rights and Permissions

Users and creators must have the rights, licences, permissions, or lawful basis needed to upload or use caption files, subtitle files, translations, transcripts, audio description tracks, or related accessibility materials.

Caption, subtitle, transcript, or audio description materials may be removed if they infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, contractual, confidentiality, or other rights.

17. Captions and Sensitive Content

Captions, subtitles, transcripts, and audio description should not be used to add policy-violating content that is not in the original video.

Accessibility text must not be used to introduce:

  • Threats
  • Harassment
  • Hate speech
  • Scams or phishing links
  • Malware instructions
  • Sexualised minor content
  • Private personal information
  • Dangerous or illegal instructions

18. Children and Young Users

Captions, subtitles, translations, transcripts, and audio description for child-directed content or content involving children must be safe and appropriate.

Users must not use accessibility text or audio to exploit, sexualise, identify, groom, harass, or endanger children or young users.

Serious child-safety concerns may result in immediate account action and reporting where appropriate or required.

19. No Guaranteed Availability or Accuracy

Playflick does not guarantee that every video will include captions, subtitles, translations, transcripts, or audio description.

Playflick also does not guarantee that available accessibility features will be complete, error-free, perfectly timed, or suitable for every viewer or use case.

20. User Settings

Users may be able to adjust caption, subtitle, language, audio, style, size, colour, background, transcript, or accessibility settings where features are available.

Settings may vary by device, browser, operating system, app version, content type, and accessibility support.
