2. Purpose of This Policy

Creators may work with brands, studios, agencies, advertisers, sponsors, distributors, product companies, event organisers, and other businesses. These relationships must be honest, safe, lawful, and clearly disclosed where required.

This policy explains:

  • What counts as a brand deal or paid partnership
  • When creators should disclose commercial relationships
  • How paid reviews and endorsements should be handled
  • What product claims are prohibited or restricted
  • How brand approvals and creative control may work
  • How Playflick may enforce against misleading partnerships

3. What Counts as a Brand Deal?

A brand deal may exist when a creator receives money, products, services, benefits, discounts, travel, access, commissions, credits, gifts, or other value in exchange for promoting, reviewing, mentioning, featuring, linking to, or endorsing a product, service, brand, project, event, film, series, studio, or business.

Brand deals may include:

  • Sponsored videos
  • Paid product mentions
  • Gifted products
  • Affiliate links
  • Discount codes
  • Paid reviews
  • Product placements
  • Event invitations
  • Travel or hospitality benefits
  • Studio, film, or trailer promotions

4. Disclosure Is Required Where Applicable

Creators must clearly disclose paid partnerships, sponsorships, affiliate relationships, gifted products, free services, commissions, or other material connections where required by Playflick policy or applicable law.

Disclosures should be easy for viewers to notice and understand.

More information is available in our Sponsored Content & Affiliate Disclosure Policy.

5. Clear Disclosure Wording

Disclosures should be clear, simple, and placed where viewers are likely to see them.

Disclosure wording may include:

  • “Sponsored by [Brand].”
  • “Paid partnership with [Brand].”
  • “This video includes paid promotion.”
  • “Affiliate link: I may earn commission.”
  • “Product provided by [Brand].”
  • “I received this service for free.”

Vague wording such as “thanks,” “collab,” “partner,” or “ambassador” may not be enough if it does not clearly explain the commercial relationship.

6. Placement of Disclosures

Disclosures should appear close to the sponsored content, link, endorsement, or product claim.

Depending on the content type, disclosures may appear in:

  • The video itself
  • The beginning of the video where appropriate
  • The video description
  • The livestream description or pinned comment
  • The profile bio or link section where relevant
  • The storefront or marketplace listing where relevant
  • The post, comment, or message containing the promotion

Creators should not hide disclosures behind “read more” sections, unclear wording, tiny text, fast-moving text, or confusing language where viewers may miss them.

7. Honest Reviews and Endorsements

Reviews, endorsements, recommendations, testimonials, and product claims must be honest and not misleading.

Creators must not:

  • Claim to use a product they have not used
  • Claim results they did not experience
  • Hide important risks or limitations
  • Post fake testimonials
  • Give false ratings or fake praise
  • Mislead viewers about whether they were paid
  • Present a paid ad as an independent review where disclosure is required

8. Product Claims

Product claims must be truthful, accurate, and supported where required.

Creators and brands must not make false or unsupported claims about:

  • Health benefits
  • Weight loss
  • Medical treatment
  • Financial returns
  • Safety
  • Product performance
  • Availability
  • Legal compliance
  • Professional approval
  • Guaranteed results

9. Restricted Brand Deal Categories

Playflick may restrict or prohibit brand deals involving certain products, services, industries, claims, or audiences.

Restricted or prohibited categories may include:

  • Illegal goods or services
  • Scams, phishing, or malware
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Unsafe financial schemes
  • Unsafe health or medical claims
  • Weapons or dangerous products where prohibited
  • Adult sexual services where prohibited
  • Gambling, betting, or lottery services where prohibited
  • Nicotine, drugs, or controlled substances where prohibited
  • Products or services that exploit children

10. Child Safety and Young Audiences

Brand deals must not exploit, manipulate, pressure, sexualise, or endanger children or young users.

Creators and brands must not:

  • Pressure children to buy, subscribe, donate, or send gifts
  • Hide sponsorships in child-directed content where disclosure is required
  • Promote unsafe products to children
  • Collect children’s personal information unlawfully
  • Use children deceptively in commercial content
  • Direct children to unsafe external sites or private contact

Serious child-safety concerns may result in immediate account action and reporting where appropriate or required.

11. Affiliate Links and Discount Codes

Affiliate links, discount codes, referral codes, commission links, and tracking links must be disclosed where required.

Creators must not:

  • Hide that they may earn commission
  • Use misleading discount claims
  • Claim a discount is exclusive if it is not
  • Use fake urgency or fake scarcity
  • Link to unsafe or scam websites
  • Promote prohibited products through affiliate links

12. Product Placement

Product placement may include showing, using, wearing, mentioning, or featuring a product, service, brand, logo, location, studio, film, or business as part of content.

Product placement should be disclosed where required and must not mislead viewers about sponsorship, editorial independence, or paid promotion.

13. Paid Reviews

Paid reviews must be disclosed where required and must be honest.

Brands must not require creators to provide false positive reviews, hide negative experiences, make unsupported claims, or misrepresent the creator’s genuine opinion.

Creators must not sell fake reviews or pretend a paid review is independent where disclosure is required.

14. Brand Approval and Creative Control

Brand deals may involve draft review, brand approval, legal review, talking points, revision requests, or campaign guidelines.

However, sponsors must not require creators to:

  • Break Playflick policies
  • Hide required disclosures
  • Make false claims
  • Target children unfairly
  • Promote prohibited goods or services
  • Use copyrighted material without permission
  • Mislead viewers about results, risks, or sponsorship

15. Conflicts of Interest

Creators should disclose material conflicts of interest where required or where the conflict could reasonably affect viewer understanding.

Conflicts may include:

  • Being paid by a brand being reviewed
  • Owning part of a product or business being promoted
  • Receiving commission from sales
  • Receiving free travel, hospitality, or access
  • Having a family or business relationship with the brand
  • Receiving future compensation based on content performance

16. Sponsored Content and Editorial Content

Creators should avoid confusing viewers about whether content is independent editorial content, sponsored content, advertising, affiliate promotion, or paid partnership content.

Sponsored segments, paid reviews, and brand integrations should not be disguised in a way that misleads viewers.

17. Rights, Licences, and Third-Party Material

Creators and brands are responsible for ensuring they have the rights needed for sponsored content.

This may include rights to use:

  • Music
  • Film clips
  • Trailers
  • Images
  • Logos
  • Product footage
  • Actor or influencer likenesses
  • Studio or brand materials

Sponsored content may still be removed or restricted if it infringes rights or violates Playflick policies.

18. Paid Partnership Labels and Tools

Playflick may provide paid partnership labels, disclosure fields, branded content tools, sponsorship tags, or other disclosure tools where available.

Using Playflick disclosure tools may not fully satisfy every legal requirement in every country.

Creators and brands remain responsible for making required disclosures clearly and correctly.

19. Brand Deal Payments

Brand deal payments may be handled directly between creators and brands or through Playflick tools where available.

If payments are processed through Playflick, they may be subject to:

  • Payment-provider rules
  • Platform fees
  • Tax requirements
  • Payout thresholds
  • Refunds and chargebacks
  • Fraud review
  • Identity or business verification
  • Account balance and ledger rules

Payments made outside Playflick may not be protected by Playflick payment or dispute processes.

20. Brand Deal Disputes

Disputes may arise between creators, brands, agencies, sponsors, studios, distributors, or businesses about content, payment, approvals, delivery, results, rights, exclusivity, cancellation, or disclosure.

Playflick may provide support tools where available, but Playflick may not resolve every private contract, commercial, creative, or legal dispute.

21. Misleading Brand Deal Activity

Misleading brand deal activity is prohibited.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Fake sponsorship claims
  • Fake brand logos or approval badges
  • Undisclosed paid endorsements where disclosure is required
  • Fake reviews or testimonials
  • Fake audience metrics to obtain brand deals
  • Using brand names to scam creators or viewers
  • Impersonating brands, agencies, or Playflick partnership teams
